Christina (Tina) Labanowicz began playing both cello and piano at 6 years old. She began her cello studies here in Brantford at the Saturday Morning String School with Don Eddy. Her studies eventually led her to teachers in Hamilton and Kitchener and to Berlin where she studied with Werner Haupt, her grandfather. Tina’s first orchestra experience was with the Little String Orchestra and she began quartet work at the age of 11 with Virginia Little. Tina was also first cellist in the “original” Brantford Symphony Youth Orchestra and enjoyed time at the Canadian Festival of Youth Orchestras in Banff. Tina’s love of children and music has grown in 28 years of fostering children and 18 years of teaching with the Brant Suzuki String School. Tina is the conductor of the Senior Little String Orchestra.
